Criteria for financial assistance
To be eligible for ENERGYWISE funding the following criteria have to be met:
- You have to choose a packaged solar water heating system that is registered with EECA. Use the solar system search to find one.
- It must be purchased from a registered retailer, and installed by a registered installer
- The system must be installed on the house you live in most of the time (not a business or holiday home)
- It must have a building consent
What do I do to get ENERGYWISE funding?
Step 1: Choose a solar water heating system from EECA's list of registered systems. Or, find an EECA-registered retailer and get them to recommend a registered system that meets your needs.
Step 2: Get a quote from the relevant retailer. The quote should include the total cost of the system, all installation costs, building consent and GST.
Step 3: Obtain a building consent for the system before it is installed. It is the home owner's responsibility to obtain a building consent, however your installer will probably be able to help with this process.
Step 4: Have your system installed by a registered installer.
Step 5: Complete the ENERGYWISE grant claim form you received from the registered retailer.
Step 6: Send the grant claim form to EECA within six weeks of the date of installation. You will also need to provide a copy of your invoice to verify the installation and a bank deposit slip or top of bank statement to confirm your bank account details for payment.
(Note that you will need to the installation signed off by your council, in accordance with your building consent.)
