AA ENERGYWISE™ Rally 2010
The AA ENERGYWISE™ Rally is a four-day car rally that is held every second year, demonstrating how people can save hundreds of dollars a year in fuel costs by considering a fuel-efficient car and good driving technique. In 2010 it was held from 11-14 October.
The Rally is organised by the Automobile Association (AA) and the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA). Gull New Zealand Ltd is the major sponsor and provides all fuel for the event, including sustainable biofuels.
2010 winner
The winner is not the first over the line - it's the car that completes the course using the least amount of fuel. And you'll be amazed at what these guys can do! The Supreme Award, for the car that cost the least to complete the 1763km journey, including fuel and road user charges, went to the Honda Insight S, costing just $147.83 to cover the distance
Vehicles are entered into the rally by New Zealand vehicle manufacturers where they travel over typical New Zealand driving conditions - motorways, unsealed roads, rural state highways and in peak hour city congestion - for the title of New Zealand's most fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly car.
