Hot water
Whether you're choosing a new hot water system or using the one you already have, there are some easy ways to reduce your energy use without compromising on convenience. And, by doing your bit, you'll be helping make sure that more of our country's resources are left over for generations to come.
Hot water heating accounts for around 30% of our energy bills [1] and costs the average household around $650 a year, but you may be using more energy than you need to get the hot water you want.
There are two main ways to reduce the amount of energy you use for hot water.
- Cut your hot water waste - whatever system you have - with some simple, everyday actions.
- When it's time for a new one, choose the right hot water system.
ENERGYWISE™ grants are available in some cases to install solar water heating.
