Heat pump water heating pilot funding scheme
Heat pump water heating scheme closed
EECA's pilot scheme to gather information about how well heat pump water heaters perform in real operating conditions in New Zealand is now closed.
The scheme ran between 30 March and 1 December 2009 and resulted in almost 500 installations.
Information from scheme
About 250 of the systems had a water and electricity meter installed and homeowners provide monthly meter readings to EECA.
Once all the readings have been received EECA will undertake a comprehensive analysis of the data and produce reports for government, product suppliers and the public.
The first public reports should become available by mid-2010.
Will there be other schemes in the future?
Any future government support for heat pump water heaters will depend on the findings from the pilot scheme, and the availability of government funding.
Decisions on future schemes will be announced by the Minister of Energy and Resources and notified by media release and published on our website. Please revisit this site for any updates.
