Turn your screensaver off! Screen savers save pixels, not energy. Turn your monitor off when not in use instead.
Use your computers power management settings to turn off your monitor when there’s no activity for between 5 and 20 minutes. Hitting the keyboard or moving the mouse turns on the monitor in a matter of seconds.
Lower your monitor's brightness setting. Because the monitor is the major consumer of electricity in a computer, the lower you set your brightness, the less power you'll use.
If you haven’t already, replace old, tube-style CRT monitors for an LCD. The annual running costs for a CRT monitor can be over 50% more than an LCD of the same size.
ENERGY STAR products offer the same great performance and features, but their running costs are lower: good for your wallet and good for the environment.
