Use this calculator to work out the potential savings from different solar water heating systems.

Systems included were nominated by suppliers participating in the EECA financial assistance programme – not all systems on the market are included.

This calculator uses energy performance figures to give you an idea of the sort of energy savings you could expect.

To find out what electricity tariff you are on, look at your latest power bill, or call your energy retailer. On your power bill it will state your tariff/s (you may have two) and how much they cost per unit. If you’ve got two meters, select your water heating tariff (this will most likely be the cheaper tariff, unless you have night rate, which is the cheapest).

For example, your bill may say ‘all day economy tariff – 14.01 cents per kilowatt hour’ (14.01c/kWh). In this case you would enter ‘14.01’ into the calculator.
