About Home Energy Rating assessors
Qualifications and accreditation
All home energy rating assessors are required to go through a comprehensive training and accreditation process. Assessors often have a background in the area of either sustainable building or energy efficiency - for example, engineering, home design, or energy auditing. This ensures that homeowners are given high-quality, consistent, professional advice.
The Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA) is a not-for-profit, independent organisation. They're responsible for providing assessor accreditation services for the home energy rating scheme.
Among ABSA's responsibilities are training, accreditation, quality assurance and monitoring of assessors. To find out more, go to the ABSA website.
If you are not happy with your home energy rating or assessor, contact ABSA. Assessors are required to hold Professional Indemnity and Liability Insurance.
