Tyre pressure disclaimer

The tyre pressure tool is designed to give consumers information about the correct tyre pressure for their vehicle. You will be asked to provide your number plate. The tool will then provide you with the correct tyre pressure for your vehicle, based on  average operating conditions. The tyre pressure tool relies on data supplied by DriveRightData.

EECA has taken reasonable steps to make sure that the information on this website is up-to-date.  However, no guarantee is made as to the currency or accuracy of information.  This means that before relying on this information, you may wish to verify that this information is applicable to your situation.  Please also review our website terms of use.

Safety warning:  It is a safety risk to over or under-inflate your tyres. Overinflating tyres can adversely affect vehicle manoeuvrability, make the ride harsher, and sometimes lead to loss of control and crashes. Underinflating tyres can result in tyre stress due to overheating, irregular wear of tread, tyre failure, and sometimes loss of driver control and crashes."

How fuel efficient is your driving disclaimer

The fuel efficient driving tool is designed to give consumers information about how they may be able to reduce their fuel bill.

You will be asked to provide information about your vehicle, how far you travel annually, your tyre type and pressure, your driving style, how you use your car, and how frequently you service your car.  The tool will then provide you with an estimate of how much money you may be able save annually if you make suggested changes to your driving behaviour.
The fuel efficient driving tool relies on a range of research about the variables that affect vehicle fuel efficiency. The fuel efficient driving tool assumes a fuel price of $2.00 per litre (petrol) and $1.45 per litre (diesel).

While the tool can be used to provide a useful estimate, results may vary depending on factors such as vehicle condition and any vehicle modifications, driving style, traffic conditions, distance travelled and fuel price variations. Note also that when selecting the least fuel efficient option for each factor, the tool may overestimate the annual savings.

This means that before relying on the results generated by the fuel efficient driving tool, you should carefully evaluate the accuracy, completeness and applicability of the results to your situation, and may wish to obtain appropriate expert advice relevant to your particular situation.  Please also review our website terms of use.

Running costs calculator disclaimer

This tool is intended to provide general information and guidance.  The figures produced by the tool are estimates only.

EECA has taken reasonable steps to make sure that the information on this website is up-to-date. However, no guarantee is made as to the currency or accuracy of information. This means that before relying on this information, you should verify that this information is applicable to your situation. Please also review our website terms of use.

Water heating systems disclaimer

The water heating systems tool is designed to compare water heating systems for your household.

You will be asked to provide information about where you live, and about how you currently heat, and use, your water. The tool will then provide you with a comparison of the upfront costs, annual running costs, and lifetime costs of different types of systems.

The water heating systems tool incorporates data sourced from BRANZ research, Australian and New Zealand Standards and  manufacturer's product specifications.
The water heating systems tool make a number of assumptions, including the amount of hot water being used, hot and cold water temperatures, system efficiencies, losses, purchase and installation costs and interest rates.

While the tool can be used to provide a useful estimate, results may vary depending on:
your actual hot water usage, actual energy prices, actual system prices and efficiencies, actual hot and cold water temperatures, and actual interest rates.

This means that before relying on the results generated by the water heating systems tool, you should carefully evaluate the accuracy, completeness and applicability of the results to your situation, and should obtain appropriate expert advice relevant to your particular situation. Please also review our website terms of use.

Energy efficient light bulbs disclaimer

The energy efficient light bulbs tool is designed to estimate how much money you could save by changing to energy efficient light bulbs.

The tool will then provide you with an estimated comparison of the running costs per year of your original bulbs versus the running costs per year of the energy efficient bulbs, as well as additional information about the light bulbs, such as an estimated purchase price.

The energy efficient light bulbs tool assumes that: the bulb is being used for 3 hours per day at a cost of 27c per kWh; savings do not include purchase costs; the life span of the bulb is an approximation, based on 1000 hours of use per year; and the life span of LEDs has been capped at 10+.

While the tool can be used to provide a useful estimate, results may vary depending on changes to the assumptions described above, changes to electricity pricing, and changes to your personal circumstances.

This means that before relying on the results generated by the energy efficient light bulbs tool, you should carefully evaluate the accuracy, completeness and applicability of the results to your situation, and should obtain appropriate expert advice relevant to your particular situation. Please also review our website terms of use.

ENERGY STAR products disclaimer

This tool is intended to provide general information and guidance. The figures produced by the tool are estimates only.

EECA has taken reasonable steps to make sure that the information on this website is up-to-date. However, no guarantee is made as to the currency or accuracy of information.

Solar calculator disclaimer

The solar calculator is designed to assess the value of a solar electricity system for your household. You will be asked to provide details about your house, your energy usage, and how you intend to pay for a solar electricity system. The tool will then estimate the value of installing a solar electricity system at your house, including your estimated total earnings (if any) over the course of 25 years, and the estimated number of years that it would take for you to earn back your initial investment.

This calculator is brought to you by EECA ENERGYWISE.

The solar calculator incorporates solar data sourced from the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) through its SolarView service.

The solar calculator tool uses certain assumptions and estimates when calculating its results.  In particular, it makes assumptions in relation to the price of electricity over time. While the tool can be used to provide a useful estimate, results may vary depending on: your circumstances; electricity pricing arrangements; and other factors that impact on the economic value of solar.

This means that before relying on the results generated by the solar calculator, you should carefully evaluate the accuracy, completeness and applicability of the results to your situation, and should obtain appropriate expert advice relevant to your particular situation.  Please also review our website terms of use.

Fuel efficient tyres disclaimer

The fuel efficient tyres tool is designed to help consumers to find ENERGYWISE approved fuel efficient tyres for their cars.

You will be asked to provide your vehicle number plate or your vehicle tyre size.  The tool will then provide you with a list of approved ENERGYWISE fuel efficient tyres that will fit your car.

The fuel efficient tyres tool incorporates data sourced from DriveRight. The tyre sizes listed have been nominated as appropriate by the vehicle manufacturer.

The fuel efficient tyres tool assumes that: the vehicle fuel efficiency of your car is 10 litres/100 km; the cost of fuel is $2.00/litre; you would fit a set of four new fuel efficient tyres at the same time; the fuel saving as a result of having ENERGYWISE approved tyres is 7.5%; a tyre will last for 40000km; and the price difference between an ENERGYWISE approved tyre and a standard tyre will be $25 per tyre.

While the tool can be used to provide a useful estimate, results may vary depending on fluctuations in all of the assumptions described above.

This means that before relying on the results generated by the fuel efficient tyres tool, you should carefully evaluate the accuracy, completeness and applicability of the results to your situation, and should obtain appropriate expert advice relevant to your particular situation.  Please also review our website terms of use.
