Fuel efficient tyres

Tyres may all look the same but they can vary greatly in how they perform. Some will even save you fuel. Fuel efficient tyres are made from a different compound, so they roll along the road more easily.

Overview

Now there is an easy way to tell if a tyre will deliver both safety and fuel efficiency with the ENERGYWISE approval mark for tyres.

ENERGYWISE approved tyres must meet ENERGYWISE standards for both fuel efficiency and braking in the wet - which means you will save you fuel and know that your tyres will perform when safety really counts.

Opening title - EECA ENERGYWISE: The Energy Spot

We open on close-up of Jared next to a tyre. He is in a tyre retailer environment.

Jared: Tyres may all look the same...

Zoom in to close-up of tyres - we see the differences in tread, size etc. Jared walks out from between two tyres and continues talking.

Jared: ...but they can vary greatly in how they perform. Some will even save you fuel.

Fuel efficient tyres are made from a different compound so they roll along the road more easily.

We cut to Jared with a table top demonstration set up. He places two model cars on a ramp.

Jared: It works like this: using the same energy, the car with fuel efficient tyres travels further.

He releases the cars. The car with fuel efficient tyres goes further.

Jared: When driving, that means your car will use less energy to push itself along.

Graphics show: Save up to $500.00 over the life of the tyres. Savings based on a set of four fuel efficient tyres.

Jared: It's like saving up to 15c a litre every time you drive.

Graphics show: Equivalent to saving up to 15c a litre every time you drive. Savings based on a set of four fuel efficient tyres.

Jared: Ask about ENERGYWISE Approved Tyres.

Cut to Jared standing by a laptop.

Graphic: ENERGYWISE Approved Tyres Mark appears on screen as we cut to laptop screen whoch displays the fuel efficient tyres tool.

Cut to full screen: car braking and stopping.

Jared: They meet ENERGYWISE criteria for both fuel efficiency and braking in the wet so you know they'll save you fuel and money and perform when safety really counts.

Cut to Jared checking tyre pressure.

Jared: Here's a tip: check your tyres are correctly inflated. It's safer and will save you fuel.

Cut to close up of Jared. He's on some steps against a white background.

Jared: If everyone used fuel efficient tyres we'd reduce our CO2 emissions...

Pull back to reveal Jared is standing two thirds the way up stairs on the side of a huge fuel storage tank.

On the tank appears: $130 million.

Jared: ....and save the country $130 million dollars in fuel every year.
