What to look for if you're buying and renting

If you're looking to buy or rent a home, it's important to think about how warm, healthy and energy efficient it will be before you sign on the dotted line.

With some simple checks, you'll get an idea of how comfortable to live in and cost-effective to run a home will be, what needs sorting, and whether those things can be easily fixed. Don't forget to budget for any work or upgrades needed.

We pull back to see that the house Jared is in front of is... a photo of a house in an estate agents window. Jared is actually within the photo.

Does it have adequate insulation? How about the heating system? Is it damp? Will the living areas get enough sun?

We cut back to Jared, he holds up a power bill and says:

An energy efficient home will cost you less to run.

Jared stands by his open laptop. We see the ‘Buying and Renting’ page of the ENERGYWISE website.
